Children
& Family Special Events
Watch
the church newsletter and bulletin for more information
about:
Annual
Events
Special events for children and their families
are held throughout the year. These events are
designed for fun, fellowship, and faith development.
Some events require registration. Announcements
will be made in the church newsletter and Sunday
bulletins throughout the year.
Family
Advent Workshop
Families come together at the beginning of Advent
as they rotate through stations designed to help
them create items that will help them celebrate
the Advent Season and share the good news of Jesus’
birth. This event is held the end of November
or first of December.
Easter Egg Hunt
Each year we hunt for hundreds of Easter eggs
around the church property. This fun event is
for children age birth through fifth grade. A
Potato/Salad Bar luncheon for the congregation
is served prior to the egg hunt.
Vacation
Bible School
Each year children, youth, and adults join together
for an exciting week of encountering God. Each
year’s themes are designed to delight us
all as we learn more and more about our faith
through music, recreation, arts and crafts, storytelling,
and science.
Camp
Canyon
Many of our children and youth attend summer camps
at Camp Canyon, a United Methodist camp located
near Hinton, Oklahoma. Camps are offered for children
entering first – twelfth grades and have
become an important part of their faith development.
Camps can fill up quickly, so early registration
is recommended.
Back
to School Blessing
We strive to celebrate important milestones in
the lives of our children and starting back to
school is just one of them. During the 11:00 worship
service, usually the Sunday before school starts,
children receive a Blessing for a wonderful school
experience.
Bible
Exploration Class and Third Grade Bible Presentation
Third grade children receive the special gift
of a Bible from the Church, as they begin their
journey of reading God’s word on their own.
The Bible Exploration class helps children build
relationships with one another as they become
comfortable using and reading their Bibles and
encourages them to continue growing in their relationship
with God.
Trunk
or Treat
Members of the congregation decorate their cars
for Halloween, park them in the parking lot as
costumed children “trunk or treat”
for candy. Children from all over the community
are invited to come “trunk or treat”
with us! This fall event generally includes hot
dogs roasted over a campfire, makings for s’mores,
carnival type games, and a moon bounce.
